Ecommerce Website Development Cost in India

What an online store really costs to build and to run, for Indian sellers who take UPI, cards and COD. Our stores start at ₹75,000 excl. GST, with a fixed written quote.

The ecommerce website development cost you are quoted depends less on the number of products and more on what happens after an order is placed. Payment, GST invoice, courier booking, returns and COD confirmation all need working code or a paid app. A store that only shows products is cheap. A store that runs your operations is not.

At NioDelta, an online store starts at ₹75,000 (excl. 18% GST), with our 50% launch discount already applied. That price covers a store on a hosted platform or a custom build for a small catalogue. This page explains what pushes it up, what the quote leaves out, and how to compare it with other quotes you hold.

Why store quotes in India are so hard to compare

01

One word, five different products

A quote for a store can mean a paid theme with your logo, a configured hosted platform, a WordPress store, or a custom build. They cost very different amounts and fail in different ways. Ask which one you are being sold before you look at the number.

02

Running costs are not in the quote

Monthly platform fees, paid apps, payment gateway charges, SMS and email credits and hosting all repeat every year. A cheap build with heavy app subscriptions can cost more over two years than a dearer build with none.

03

COD and returns break simple stores

Many Indian buyers still prefer cash on delivery, and COD brings fake orders, refusals and return-to-origin loss. Order confirmation by WhatsApp or OTP and pincode rules are extra work that default templates do not include.

04

GST and invoicing surprises

If you sell in more than one state you need correct CGST, SGST and IGST on every invoice, HSN codes and credit notes for returns. Stores that skip this create work for your accountant every month.

What goes into an ecommerce website development cost

01

Catalogue and storefront

Product pages, variants, filters, search and collection pages. Cost rises with the number of variant types, such as size and colour, and with bulk product import from Excel.

02

Checkout and payments

UPI, cards, netbanking and wallets through Razorpay or a similar gateway, plus COD with rules you set. Gateway fees are charged per transaction by the provider, not by us.

03

GST invoices and tax rules

Automatic invoices with correct tax split, HSN codes and state-wise logic. This is included in our store builds because Indian sellers need it from the first order.

04

Shipping and fulfilment

Courier rate checks, AWB generation and tracking links through an aggregator you already use. Each extra courier or warehouse adds integration time.

05

Customer messages

Order confirmation, shipping updates and abandoned cart reminders over WhatsApp and email. Message charges come from the WhatsApp provider and are billed to you.

06

Admin and reporting

A back office where staff manage orders, stock, refunds and coupons without a developer. Custom reports and multi-user roles cost more than the default panel.

When this is the wrong choice. If you have fewer than about twenty products and no stock complexity, a landing page with a payment link or WhatsApp ordering is cheaper and faster. Start there and move to a full store when order volume justifies it. Also skip a custom build if a hosted platform already does what you need.

How we arrive at a fixed store quote

01

Discover

We ask how many products, which payment modes, where you ship, and who packs orders. A free discovery call is enough to size most stores.

02

Define

We list every integration and rule, such as COD limits and GST handling, and price each one. You receive a written quote with the scope on it.

03

Design

Mobile layouts come first, because most Indian shoppers buy on mid-range Android phones. You approve product, cart and checkout screens before build.

04

Build

We configure or code the store, import your catalogue and test payments in sandbox. Real orders are tested before the domain goes live.

05

Ship & extend

We launch, then support the store for one month. Later additions such as subscriptions or a mobile app are quoted separately.

What it costs

Starts at ₹75,000 (excl. 18% GST)

This is the starting point for a store with a modest catalogue, standard checkout and GST invoices. Larger or more unusual stores are quoted after a discovery call.

  • Number of product variants and bulk import
  • Payment modes and COD rules
  • Courier and warehouse integrations
  • Custom features such as subscriptions or B2B pricing
  • Platform choice and monthly app fees

All prices exclude 18% GST. See also website costs and app costs.

Questions we get asked

What is the minimum ecommerce website development cost in India?

A basic store can be built for less than our price using a paid theme, but it will lack GST handling and good checkout. NioDelta stores start at ₹75,000 excl. GST. That includes the launch discount and a fixed written quote.

Is Shopify cheaper than a custom store?

Shopify is usually cheaper to launch and has monthly fees plus app charges. A custom build costs more upfront but has no platform subscription. Over two to three years the totals can come close, so compare the full cost, not only the build.

Who pays Razorpay and gateway fees?

You do. Gateways charge a percentage per transaction, plus GST on that fee, and the rate depends on your agreement with them. We integrate the gateway and test it, but the fee is billed to your account directly.

Does the price include product photography and content?

No. Photography, product descriptions and sizing charts are your responsibility unless we agree otherwise in writing. We can import a catalogue you supply in Excel, and we will tell you if the data needs cleaning first.

Can I add a mobile app to my store later?

Yes. If the store exposes its data through an API, a Flutter or React Native app can be added later. A mobile app starts at ₹2,00,000 excl. GST. We suggest launching the website first and adding an app after repeat orders appear.

What yearly costs should I plan for?

Plan for domain, hosting or platform subscription, paid apps, gateway fees, SMS or WhatsApp credits and optional care. Our website care plan starts at ₹3,750 per month. Ask every vendor for a written list of renewals.
