Matchmaking Web App Development: Profiles, Search and Moderation
A browser-based member platform for matrimony and dating services, with profile search, interests, messaging and a moderation desk for your team.
This page covers building a matchmaking web app: the logged-in product where members create profiles, search, send interests and talk, plus the admin side your staff use to keep it safe. It suits a matrimony service, a community matchmaker or a niche dating platform that wants to launch in the browser first and add a mobile app later.
The hard part is not the profile form. It is everything around it: duplicate and fake profiles, photo review, blocked users, harassment reports and members who ask you to delete their data. We plan the moderation and admin screens at the same time as the member screens, because skipping them is how matchmaking products turn unsafe.
What matchmaking platforms need from a web app
Search that matches how Indians choose
Filters such as community, mother tongue, city, education, diet and family details matter more than age and distance. The search model must allow these without exposing private fields.
Consent-based contact
Phone numbers and photos should open only after a mutual interest or an explicit release. This needs permission logic in the data layer, not just hidden buttons.
Moderation at the centre
Every new profile, photo and message report needs a queue with a reviewer, a decision and an audit trail. Without this, one bad actor can damage the whole service.
Plans, UPI and renewals
Paid tiers, validity dates, UPI and card payments, GST invoices and renewal reminders must work without manual accounts work each week.
What we build for matchmaking web apps
Member profile and onboarding
A staged profile builder that saves progress, with mobile OTP, photo upload and optional ID verification steps. Incomplete profiles stay hidden from search.
Search, interests and shortlists
Filtered search, send and accept interest, shortlists and block lists. Match rules are written down with you so results are explainable.
Messaging with safety controls
Text chat that opens after mutual interest, with report, block and keyword flagging. Messages are stored so your team can review a reported conversation.
Admin and moderation desk
Queues for profiles, photos and reports, member notes, plan management and exports for accounts. Staff roles limit who can see contact details.
What it costs
Final cost depends on search depth, chat, verification steps and the admin desk. We give a fixed written quote after a free discovery call.
Questions we get asked
How do we stop fake and duplicate profiles?
No system stops all of them. We combine OTP, optional ID or selfie checks, duplicate phone and photo checks, rate limits and a moderation queue. Which checks you use is a business decision, and your adviser should confirm what identity data you may collect and store.
Can members choose who sees their photo?
Yes. Photo visibility can be public, members only, or released after mutual interest, and the choice is enforced on the server. Women members in particular often want this control, and it is worth building from day one rather than adding later.
Should we launch as a web app or a mobile app first?
If your audience is parents and working adults on laptops and phones, a mobile-friendly web app is quicker to test. If repeat daily use and push alerts matter, plan a mobile app next. We can share one backend between both.
What happens to member data if a member asks for deletion?
We build a deletion and deactivation flow, with a defined retention window for payment and fraud records. The exact period and wording depend on your policy and your own legal advice. We configure what you decide, we do not set the policy.
