Retail Mobile App Development for Shops and D2C Brands
Android and iOS apps for retailers whose repeat customers justify an app: loyalty, reorders, push offers and staff tools.
This page covers mobile app development for retail and ecommerce businesses. That includes a customer shopping app, a loyalty app for a chain of stores, and internal apps for store staff or delivery teams. We build with Flutter or React Native, so Android and iOS share one codebase.
An app is worth it only if people will open it repeatedly. A grocery brand with weekly reorders or a salon-products retailer with loyal clients can justify one. A brand that sells a sofa once every ten years cannot. We help you judge that first, then build the smallest app that does the repeat job well.
What retail needs from a mobile app
Fast on low-end Android
Most Indian shoppers use phones with limited memory and patchy data. The app must open quickly, cache catalogues and handle a dropped connection at checkout without losing the cart.
Reorder in two taps
Repeat buyers want last order, saved address and UPI in one flow. This convenience is what a mobile website struggles to match and what makes an app earn its install.
Loyalty that works across counter and app
Points earned in the shop should show in the app, and app orders should earn points. Otherwise staff end up handing out paper cards and customers lose track.
Notifications that are useful, not noisy
Order updates, back-in-stock alerts and a few well-timed offers keep users. Too many promotions get the app uninstalled, so frequency needs controls.
What we build for retail apps
Customer shopping app
Browse, search, wishlist, cart and checkout with UPI, cards and COD where you allow it. Order tracking and WhatsApp support sit inside the same app.
Store loyalty and membership app
Phone-number login with OTP, a points balance, a QR code for the counter and tier benefits. The shop's billing system posts points through a small connector.
Store-staff app
Shelf lookup by barcode, stock checks, stock transfer between outlets and click-and-collect order picking. It shortens the walk to the back room.
Delivery and pickup tracker
For retailers with their own riders, a rider app with assigned drops, proof of delivery and cash collected. Customers see status on their order screen.
What it costs
A mobile app MVP typically takes 10 to 12 weeks. Cost depends on the number of user types, payment and billing integrations, and whether store staff and rider apps are included.
Questions we get asked
Do we need to publish on both Play Store and App Store?
Not necessarily. Many Indian retailers start on Android because most customers use it, then add iOS later. Because we use one codebase, adding iOS is much cheaper than a second build. Apple needs a paid developer account in your name.
Can the app work if the shop internet is poor?
Store-staff screens can cache stock lists and queue actions until the connection returns. Customer checkout needs a connection for payment. We design which screens must work offline during discovery, since each one adds cost. We confirm the exact approach for your case during the free discovery call.
How will customers find and install our app?
Through links on your bills, shop QR codes, WhatsApp broadcasts and Instagram. Play Store search alone brings few installs. We set up the store listing, but promotion is yours, as we do not sell marketing.
Can the app use our existing website products?
If your site has a product database or API, the app can read from it so you update items once. If it is a closed hosted platform, we check what data it exposes before promising a shared catalogue.
