Mobile App Development in Kolkata: Android and iOS
One codebase for Android and iPhone, tested on the mid-range phones your Kolkata customers actually carry.
We are a Pune and Nashik studio, and we build mobile apps for Kolkata founders and companies without needing to be in the same city. Work happens over scheduled calls, a shared board and test builds sent to your phone every week, so you see the app grow rather than wait for a big reveal. That plan is written down in discovery, with a feature list ranked by what you cannot launch without.
The question we ask first is whether you need an app at all. Some Kolkata businesses are better served by a fast mobile website. An app earns its place when people return often, need notifications, use the camera or location, or work with poor connectivity. Anything outside that list goes to a second release, which keeps the first one on schedule.
If an app is right, we usually build it in Flutter or React Native, so Android and iOS share one codebase. That keeps the first release affordable and the later changes simpler. A realistic first version, the MVP, takes about 10 to 12 weeks. Costs stay predictable because the quote names the screens, roles and integrations included.
Where apps make sense for Kolkata teams
Neighbourhood delivery and local services
Kolkata is dense, and hyperlocal needs such as sweets, groceries and home services suit app ordering. Here the work is mostly order flow, delivery status and UPI payment. Our Foodysh project shows a similar split of customer, restaurant and rider apps. It suits a narrow first release.
Commuter and transport tools
The city runs on trams, metro, buses, taxis and ferries, and daily travellers want quick, predictable information. An app that does one narrow job and loads fast on weak networks beats a feature-heavy one. Keep forms short for one-hand use.
Bengali-first consumer products
Many users prefer Bengali for reading and English for typing. We design the interface with both scripts in mind, test text length, and keep key actions understandable without reading much. Offer a language switch on the first screen.
Seasonal demand around the Pujas
Traffic around Durga Puja is far above a normal week, for shopping, food and events. If your product depends on that peak, we plan load testing and a release freeze before the season, not after the first crash. Test with realistic traffic well before October.
How we run an app project for Kolkata clients
Weekly builds you can install
Every week you get an installable build or a TestFlight link. You can pass it to ten real users in Kolkata and send us what confused them.
Same time zone, plain updates
No overnight gaps. Updates are written in plain English, and we can explain them in Hindi when that helps your team.
Store accounts in your name
The Play Store and App Store listings belong to your business, and you own the source code. We handle submission and review fixes with you.
What it costs
The anchor covers an MVP with a defined feature set, built for Android and iOS together. Scope is fixed in writing after a free discovery call.
- Number of user roles and screens
- Payments, maps or real-time tracking
- Admin panel and reporting
- Languages and accessibility needs
Prices exclude 18% GST. Every quote is fixed and written.
Kolkata questions
Should my Kolkata startup build Android first or both platforms?
If your users are mostly on Android, launch there first to save time and money. With Flutter or React Native, adding iOS later is easier than starting over, but you still need testing and App Store review. Decide using who your first 500 users are.
Can the app work in Bengali?
Yes. We build the interface so text can switch between Bengali and English, and we test long labels and fonts on real devices. Translations come from you or your editor. A bilingual app takes extra design and testing time, which we price in the quote.
Will the app run on older phones common in Kolkata?
We test on lower-end Android devices and keep images, animations and background work light. We set a minimum supported Android version with you at the start. Very old handsets can still struggle, so we agree a clear support list in writing.
Can you handle the Durga Puja traffic spike?
We can plan for it if you tell us the expected peak early. That means load tests, caching, queued payments and a code freeze before the festival. We cannot promise a crash-free season, but we can reduce the obvious risks.
How is payment taken for an app project?
After the fixed written quote, payment is split by milestones, with GST invoices for each. You can pay by bank transfer or UPI. Final payment is tied to a tested build that meets the agreed feature list.
