Custom Software Development for Construction Companies

Software built around your estimating, billing, procurement and stores process, for firms whose workflow does not fit a packaged ERP.

This page covers custom software development for construction and infrastructure companies: tools for estimation, BOQ management, running account bills, purchase and stores that match your own process. It is aimed at contractors with several sites and a back office doing the same work in spreadsheets. We work from your own measurement books, bill formats and approval notes rather than a generic template, so the screens match how your people already talk.

Packaged construction ERPs exist and some fit well. Custom software makes sense where your measurement method, approval chain or client billing format is unusual, or where you pay for modules you never use. The honest first step is checking whether an existing product already does the job. Build cost is easier to justify when one painful process, such as bill preparation, is solved first and the rest follows in stages.

What construction companies need from custom software

01

Estimates that reuse past work

Estimators rebuild similar rates for each tender. A rate library with versions lets them price faster and see how past jobs actually ran.

02

Billing in client formats

Government and private clients each require their own measurement and bill layout. The system must produce these without retyping.

03

Purchase to payment trail

Indent, quotation comparison, order, receipt and vendor payment should link together. Auditors and partners then see who approved what and when.

04

Stores across many sites

Stock sits at several sites, with transfers between them and wastage. Knowing what is where avoids double purchases.

What we build for construction back offices

01

Estimation and rate library

Item rates built from material, labour and equipment components, reused across tenders. Revisions are kept so you can compare bids over time.

02

RA bill generator

Measurement entry, certified quantities and deductions produce a bill in the client's required layout. Previous bills carry forward automatically.

03

Procurement workflow

Indents move through quotation comparison and approval to purchase orders, with vendor history visible at each step.

04

Inter-site inventory and reports

Receipts, issues and transfers by site, with consumption against the BOQ and alerts for low stock of critical items.

When this is the wrong choice. If a packaged construction ERP covers eighty percent of your process, buy it and configure it. Custom software pays off when your process is the competitive edge or the product forces expensive workarounds.

What it costs

Starts at ₹1,50,000 (excl. GST)

This is the custom software anchor, excl. GST. Cost depends on the number of modules, client bill formats, user roles and integrations with your accounting package.

Questions we get asked

How do we know if we need custom software or an ERP?

List your ten core steps and check how many a packaged product handles without workarounds. If most fit, buy the product. If your billing, measurement or approvals are unusual, custom software is worth costing. We say this plainly in the discovery call.

Can custom software produce client-specific bill formats?

Yes. We map each format once, including layouts and rules for deductions or previous quantities, and the system generates them from your measurement data. New client formats can be added later as separate templates. Send us two or three real bills during discovery and we will confirm what is feasible.

Will it integrate with our accounts software?

Usually through exports or an integration with the accounting tool, such as Tally. Typical flows are approved purchases and bills pushed to accounts. Feasibility depends on your version and what data you need to exchange. Both sides should keep an export option so accounts never depend on one tool.

Who owns the software and the data?

You own the code and the data built for your firm. We hand over source and documentation at delivery, and the one-month post-launch support period covers fixes. Hosting arrangements are agreed in the written quote. Hosting and who pays for it are written into the quote, so nothing is a surprise later.
