Education Web App Development: Portals, Fees and Admissions
Browser-based software for running admissions, fees, attendance and parent communication, built around how your institute actually works.
This page is about education web app development: software that staff, teachers, students and parents use through a browser, with logins and data behind it. Think admission pipelines, fee collection with receipts, attendance, timetables, marks and a parent portal. It sits behind the public website. We scope it with the people who will use it every day, such as the accountant and the front-desk staff.
Indian institutes often run on a mix of Excel sheets, WhatsApp groups and a printed register. That works until staff change, a batch doubles or a parent disputes a fee entry. A web app replaces the scattered records with one source of truth, without forcing teachers to learn a complicated system.
What institutes need from a web app
Fee tracking that matches reality
Fees come in instalments, with sibling discounts, late charges, scholarships and cash alongside UPI. The app must model your rules, or the accountant ends up keeping a parallel Excel sheet. We ask for last year's fee register on day one to test the rules against real numbers.
Roles and permissions
A principal, class teacher, accountant and parent each should see different things. Parents must only ever see their own child's record.
Admissions as a pipeline
Enquiry, visit, application, document check, seat confirmation. Seeing where each family sits stops follow-ups from slipping through.
Low-effort adoption
Teachers mark attendance twice a day between classes. If it takes more than a few taps on a phone browser, they will go back to paper.
What we build for education web apps
Admissions and enquiry CRM
Lead capture, follow-up reminders, document checklists and seat status. Reports show which source brings the real admissions.
Fee and receipt module
Instalment plans, due lists, receipts with your school name and GST or exemption wording as your accountant specifies, and UPI or gateway payment links. Reconciliation reports match the bank statement. A fee defaulter list for the principal comes out in one click.
Attendance, marks and report cards
Class-wise entry on mobile browsers, printable report cards and absentee alerts to parents over WhatsApp or SMS where you have approved templates.
Parent and student portal
Fees due, attendance, notices and homework in one login. Shiksha CRM is our reference build for school management, admissions CRM and a parent app, and we apply the same thinking here.
What it costs
Web apps start at ₹1,50,000 excluding GST. The final quote depends on the number of user roles, modules, integrations and data migration from your current sheets.
Questions we get asked
Can a web app replace our school ERP?
It can, if you list what the ERP does today and which parts you actually use. We usually start with fees, attendance and admissions, then add modules in later phases. Moving all history at once adds risk, so we plan data import carefully. Your own staff training time is part of the plan.
Will parents need to install anything?
No. A web app opens in the phone browser. If most parents prefer an app icon, we can add a mobile app later on the same backend. Many institutes start with the web version and decide after a term.
How do you handle student data safely?
We use role-based access, encrypted connections, regular backups and audit logs for fee edits. Student data of minors needs extra care, so we agree who can export what. Your institute stays responsible for its own privacy policy and consent forms.
Can we start with just fee collection?
Yes, and often we recommend it. Fees are where mistakes cost money and trust. Once the accountant is comfortable, we add attendance and parent login using the same student records, so nothing needs re-entering. Nothing is entered twice.
