Logistics Custom Software Development for Transport Operations
Transport management software shaped around your lanes, branches and billing rules. For operators whose workflow does not fit a ready-made package.
This page covers custom software for logistics: a transport management system, branch booking, fleet maintenance or a billing engine built for how your company works. It is for firms that already tried packaged software and found they were changing their business to suit the product. The question we ask first is which rule costs you money today.
Packaged tools are fine for standard flows. Trouble starts with part-load consolidation across branches, agent commissions, detention charges or customer-specific rate cards. Those details are where margin is won or lost, and a generic tool rarely handles them well. Each of these is a rule that needs writing down. That is where we start.
Where logistics firms outgrow packaged software
Branch and agent networks
Booking at one branch, delivery at another and commission to an agent in between needs a clear ledger. Spreadsheet merging across branches breaks as volume grows.
Customer-specific rate cards
Large shippers negotiate rates per lane, weight slab and material. Rules must be stored once and applied the same way each time.
Fleet maintenance and compliance dates
Insurance, fitness, permit and tyre records need reminders per vehicle. Missed dates mean vehicles off the road or penalties, so reminders matter.
Integration with what you already use
You may have GPS vendors, Tally or another accounting tool, and WhatsApp for customer updates. New software should connect to them instead of becoming another island.
What we build for transport operators
Booking and lorry receipt module
Consignment booking with LR numbering per branch, charges, and print formats your customers already recognise. Numbering rules are agreed with you.
Rate engine
Customer, lane and slab based pricing with surcharges and approvals. Changes to a rate card are dated, so old invoices keep their old rates.
Fleet and maintenance register
Vehicle master, document expiry reminders, service history and cost per vehicle. Alerts go by email or WhatsApp to the person responsible.
Ledger and settlement
Branch settlements, agent commissions and customer receivables in one place, exported to your accounting software. Your accountant signs off the logic early.
What it costs
Scope is driven by modules, branches, user roles and integrations. We quote a fixed amount in writing after the discovery call and a short requirements review.
Questions we get asked
How is custom TMS different from a ready-made one?
A ready-made TMS fixes your process to its design and charges per user or branch. Custom software is shaped around your rules and you own the code. It costs more upfront and suits firms with unusual workflows. Ownership of code is yours.
Can we start with one module and add more later?
Yes, and we recommend it. Start with booking and trip records, then add billing and fleet modules once staff trust the first one. The architecture is planned in discovery so later modules fit without a rebuild. Data import is scoped in discovery.
What happens to our old Excel data?
We can import clean sheets of customers, vehicles and rates. Messy historical data needs a clean-up pass first, which we scope in discovery. Past consignments are usually imported as read-only records. Bad dates and duplicate names need cleaning.
Who owns the software after delivery?
You own the code and the data once the project is paid for. We include one month of support after launch, and a care plan starting at ₹3,750 a month is available if you want ongoing maintenance. Support runs for a month after launch.
