Logistics Web App Development: Dispatch, Trips and Billing
Browser-based dispatch and tracking tools for transporters and forwarders who have outgrown Excel and phone calls. Your staff and customers log in from any device.
This page covers a web application for a logistics business, meaning software that your dispatchers, accountants and customers log into through a browser. Typical examples are a dispatch board, a trip and expense register, a customer shipment portal and a freight billing module. Staff and customers get their own logins.
Most mid-size transporters start with Excel sheets and WhatsApp groups. It works until two dispatchers assign the same truck, or a customer asks for the proof of delivery from three months ago. A web app puts one version of every trip in one place, so the office stops chasing information.
What logistics firms need from a web app
One truck, one live status
Dispatchers need to see which vehicle is free, loaded, in transit or in maintenance. A simple board with trip status stops double booking and unanswered customer calls.
Trip cost and margin visibility
Diesel, toll, driver advance and loading charges decide whether a trip made money. Owners need cost per trip recorded against freight billed, not reconstructed at month end.
Customer self-service
Large shippers will not keep calling for status. A login that shows their consignments, lorry receipt copies and invoices saves your staff hours every week.
Billing that matches GST rules
Freight invoices, GST on transport services and reverse charge cases need careful handling. Your accountant should review the invoice format before it goes live.
What we build for dispatch and freight teams
Dispatch board
A drag-and-assign view of vehicles, drivers and open consignments with filters by branch and lane. Changes are logged so you know who assigned what.
Trip sheet and expense module
Driver advances, fuel, toll and loading entries tied to each trip, with a margin figure per trip. Drivers can submit expenses by photo through a simple link if you do not have a driver app yet.
Customer portal
Shippers log in to see consignments, status history and downloadable documents. Access is per company, so one customer never sees another's data.
Invoice and receivable tracking
Freight invoices generated from completed trips, with ageing of unpaid amounts and export to your accounting software. We confirm the export format with your accountant first.
What it costs
The number of modules, user roles and integrations such as GPS feeds or accounting export decide the final quote. A fixed written quote follows a free discovery call.
Questions we get asked
Can the web app work with our existing GPS devices?
Often yes, if your GPS vendor provides an API or a data feed. We check this during discovery. If the vendor offers no access, we can still build the trip workflow and add the GPS link later or manually. Vendor access is the deciding factor.
Will it replace Tally?
Usually not. Most transporters keep their accounting software and want trips and invoices exported to it. We build the operations side and agree the export format with your accountant, so entries are not typed twice. The export reaches your books without retyping.
How do e-way bills fit in?
E-way bill generation goes through the government portal or an approved provider, and the rules change. We can store the e-way bill number against each consignment and discuss an integration, but confirm requirements with your tax adviser. Rules and portal access change over time.
Can branch offices use the same system?
Yes. Users are given branch-level access, so Nashik sees its own consignments while head office sees all. Reports can be filtered by branch, lane or customer, and permissions are set during the Define stage. Roles are set up in the Define stage.
