Taxi Web App Development for Dispatch and Fleet Management
A browser-based dispatch desk, booking portal and fleet back office that replace trip sheets, WhatsApp groups and manual billing.
This page covers taxi web app development for operators who run dispatch from phone calls, WhatsApp and a notebook. A web app gives the dispatcher a live board of bookings, drivers and vehicles, and gives customers or corporate clients a portal to request and review trips. Both are common for operators growing past the notebook stage.
It suits fleets of ten to several hundred vehicles, travel desks serving companies, and airport or hotel transfer businesses. It is back-office heavy. If you need a rider-facing app with a live map, that is a separate mobile build, though the two share the same backend. We usually propose starting with dispatch, then adding billing.
What taxi operations need from a web app
A live dispatch board
Dispatchers need to see unassigned bookings, available drivers and trips in progress at a glance. Double-assigning a vehicle or missing an airport pickup is the costly mistake.
Fare rules that match your pricing
Operators price by km slabs, minimum fares, night charges, waiting, tolls and driver allowance. The system must apply the right rule per trip type instead of staff calculating by hand.
Driver and vehicle records
Licence, vehicle papers, insurance and permit dates expire. Alerts for upcoming expiry keep vehicles off the road for the right reason rather than a surprise check.
Corporate billing and duty slips
Company clients want monthly invoices with trip-wise detail and signed duty slips. Manual consolidation at month end is slow and error-prone.
What we build for taxi fleets
Dispatcher console
A board of bookings by status with assign, reassign and reminder actions. Drivers get the job by WhatsApp or SMS, or through a driver app if you add one later.
Customer and corporate portal
Clients log in to request trips, see past bookings and download invoices. Corporate accounts can have approvers, cost centres and monthly statements.
Tariff and invoice engine
Configurable fare tables by vehicle type and trip type, with extras added at close of trip. GST invoices are generated per trip or per month, as your clients require.
Fleet compliance tracker
Document expiry dates for vehicles and drivers, service due dates and a simple log of incidents. Reminders go to the fleet manager before things lapse.
What it costs
Cost depends on fare rule complexity, corporate billing features, user roles and integrations such as payment gateways or SMS. We quote in writing after a free discovery call.
Questions we get asked
Can the web app work for a small fleet of ten cars?
Yes, if bookings come from several channels and billing is eating your time. Below that scale, a spreadsheet and WhatsApp may be enough. The app pays back when mix-ups, missed pickups or month-end invoicing become regular problems.
Can drivers be notified without a driver app?
Yes. Assignments can go by WhatsApp or SMS with pickup details and a call link. Drivers confirm with a reply or link. A full driver app adds live location and trip start or end, and can be added later.
How do we handle toll and parking charges?
Drivers or staff add them to the trip at closing, with an amount and optional photo of the receipt. The invoice shows them as separate lines, so corporate clients can verify them against the trip.
Does it replace our existing billing software?
It can. Trip-based invoices with GST can be produced directly, and exported for your accountant. If you already use accounting software, we can export in a format that imports cleanly, which we check during discovery.
