Taxi and ride booking app development for Indian fleet operators

Booking apps, driver apps and dispatch tools for local cab operators, airport transfer firms and outstation travel companies. Built for the fleet you actually run.

A cab operator's business sits between a phone and a fleet. Calls arrive, a dispatcher guesses which driver is nearby, and the fare is agreed by negotiation or a printed card. Taxi and ride booking app development replaces that guesswork with a booking, an assigned driver, a tracked trip and a fare the customer saw before they confirmed.

Our studio in Pune builds for operators of different sizes, from a dozen-car local fleet to a multi-city outstation business. We build the apps and the admin system. Licensing, permits and aggregator rules vary by state and by the kind of service, so a compliance adviser must confirm what applies to you before launch.

Where cab operators lose trips and money

01

Dispatch by phone call

The dispatcher rings drivers one by one to find someone close. Customers wait without knowing if a car is coming. Calls at peak hours go unanswered, and those customers book elsewhere.

02

Fares decided on the spot

Airport drop, night charges, waiting time and tolls are argued at the end of the ride. Drivers and customers both feel cheated at times. A fare set before the trip removes most of that argument.

03

Driver trust and cash leakage

Cash trips are hard to audit, and drivers take private bookings from your customers. Without a trip record, commission, fuel advance and dues are settled from memory.

04

Outstation complexity

Round trips, one-way drops, driver allowance and night halt charges differ for every route. Quotes sent over WhatsApp contain mistakes, and a missed pickup time on a long trip is costly.

What we build for taxi and ride booking businesses

01

Rider booking app and site

Customers enter pickup and drop, see an upfront fare by car type and book now or later. They watch the driver's approach on a map and get trip details by SMS or WhatsApp.

02

Driver app

Drivers accept or reject requests, navigate with a map link, start and end trips with an OTP and see earnings and dues. The app is light enough for the budget phones many drivers carry.

03

Fare engine

Set base fare, per-kilometre rate, waiting charge, night charge, tolls and airport fees by vehicle type and city. Fixed-price airport and outstation packages sit beside metered local rides.

04

Dispatch and admin panel

A live map shows free and busy cars. Operators assign trips manually when needed, handle calls from walk-in customers, block problem accounts and see every trip's record.

05

Airport and outstation booking

Flight-linked pickup times, meet-and-greet notes, round trip and one-way pricing, and driver allowance rules. Corporate accounts can book for staff and receive one consolidated GST invoice.

06

Payments and settlements

UPI, cards, wallet and cash are all recorded against the trip. The system calculates driver payouts, your commission and outstanding cash dues, with statements you can export for accounts.

When this is the wrong choice. If you run under ten cars with regular customers, a WhatsApp booking number and a printed rate card may serve you better than a full app. Do not build a Mumbai or Bengaluru style aggregator expecting to match large apps on discounts. A narrower product, such as airport transfers or corporate commutes, is usually a safer start.

How a ride booking build runs

01

Discover

We ride along or listen in on dispatch for a day, and list your routes, vehicle types and current fare cards. We also ask who owns the cars, you or the drivers.

02

Define

We fix the fare rules, the booking flow, driver onboarding steps, payment modes and city setup. You get a written scope and fixed quote, with a first release limited to the core trip loop.

03

Design

We design three surfaces: rider, driver and operator. Driver screens use big buttons and few steps, since they are used while parked at the kerb in the sun.

04

Build

We build the apps and dispatch panel together, and test trips on real roads with your drivers. GPS drift, weak signal and background tracking on Android are tested early, not at the end.

05

Ship & extend

We publish to the Play Store, run a pilot with a few cars and support you for one month. Later releases can add new cities, corporate accounts or an iOS app.

What it costs

Starts at ₹2,00,000 for the apps (excl. GST)

A rider and driver app starts at ₹2,00,000 for a mobile MVP, and an admin and dispatch panel is quoted with it after a discovery call. Map and SMS usage are running costs paid to providers.

  • Android only or Android and iOS
  • Fare complexity and number of cities
  • Live dispatch and auto-assignment
  • Corporate accounts and invoicing
  • Map, SMS and payment usage volume

All prices exclude 18% GST. See also website costs and app costs.

Questions we get asked

Can the app calculate fares automatically?

Yes. You define base fare, rate per kilometre, waiting, night and toll rules, and the app shows the customer an estimate before booking. Final fare can adjust for actual distance and time, within rules you set in advance.

Do you handle taxi permits or aggregator licensing?

No. Rules for cab operators and aggregators differ by state and by service type. A compliance adviser or transport authority must confirm what you need. We build features such as driver document checks and trip records, which can support compliance.

How does live tracking work on cheap phones?

The driver app sends location at set intervals, and the rider sees the car move on a map. Battery settings on some Android brands stop background apps, so we test on budget phones and guide drivers on settings.

Can I take bookings from my existing customers by phone?

Yes. The dispatch panel lets staff enter a booking for a caller, assign a driver and send trip details to the customer by SMS or WhatsApp. This keeps phone and app bookings in one trip record.

Can corporate clients get monthly GST invoices?

Yes. Company accounts can book for employees, and trips are collected into one invoice with GST details. Your accountant should confirm tax treatment. We build the invoice format and export it for your accounting software.

How long does it take to launch?

A rider app, driver app and admin panel is a mobile app MVP of about ten to twelve weeks, after a discovery call. More cities, corporate accounts and auto-dispatch lengthen it, and we scope those in a second release.
