Progressive Web App Development for Teams That Do Not Need the Play Store

An installable web app that works on weak networks, sends notifications and ships from one codebase, with an honest view of where a native app would do better.

A progressive web app is a website that behaves like an app. Users add it to the home screen, it opens full screen, loads cached screens offline and can send push notifications. There is nothing to download from a store, and an update reaches everyone the moment you deploy it.

For many Indian use cases this is enough, and cheaper than two native apps. Field staff in patchy network zones, shop-floor tools, ordering sites and internal dashboards all fit. NioDelta will tell you plainly if your case needs native features a PWA cannot reach. We will give you a direct answer before any money is spent.

Reasons teams look at a PWA instead of a native app

01

App store friction

Many customers will not install a new app for a one-time task. A link that opens instantly and can be installed later removes that step. Staff tools also avoid per-device store setup.

02

Patchy networks

Delivery boys, site engineers and sales reps work in basements, warehouses and rural routes. An app that needs a live connection for every tap loses data. Offline caching and queued actions solve this.

03

Two codebases, double cost

Separate Android and iOS apps, plus a website, means three things to build and keep updated. A PWA gives one codebase for phone, tablet and desktop.

04

Low-end devices and storage

On a phone with 32 GB storage full of photos, a 60 MB app gets uninstalled first. A PWA is often a few MB and loads quickly even on modest hardware.

What our progressive web app development covers

01

Installable app shell

A web app manifest, icons, splash screen and a service worker, so the app installs from Chrome on Android and from Safari's Add to Home Screen on iPhone.

02

Offline-first behaviour

We decide what must work offline, such as forms, product lists or checklists, cache it, and queue actions to sync when the network returns, with clear status for the user.

03

Push notifications

Web push on Android and on iPhones running recent iOS versions once the app is installed. We also plan a WhatsApp or SMS fallback for users who do not allow notifications.

04

Fast loading on weak devices

Code splitting, small bundles and image handling tuned for mid-range Android phones on 4G. We measure on real devices, not just a developer laptop.

05

Device features that the web allows

Camera for scanning and uploads, geolocation, file sharing, QR and barcode scanning, and biometric login through the browser where supported. We list what is not available before you commit.

06

Optional store wrapper

If you later want a Play Store listing, a PWA can be packaged as a Trusted Web Activity for Android. That path costs far less than a rewrite, though iOS store listing needs a different approach.

When this is the wrong choice. Choose a native or Flutter app if you need heavy background tasks, Bluetooth devices, reliable background location, deep phone integration or a strong presence on the App Store. iOS also limits PWAs more than Android does. If your users expect to find you by searching an app store, a PWA alone will not satisfy that.

How we build a PWA

01

Discover

We list the devices, network conditions and tasks your users face. We also check which phone features you need, to confirm the web can deliver them.

02

Define

We agree what works offline, what syncs and how conflicts are resolved if two people edit the same record. This is the hardest decision, so we settle it early.

03

Design

We design thumb-friendly screens that feel like an app, with clear offline and syncing states, and we test them on a small phone.

04

Build

We build the app shell, service worker and API, then test with the network switched off, throttled and flipping between states.

05

Ship & extend

We help you share install instructions with users and monitor errors. One month of support is included, and new offline features can follow once real usage shows the gaps.

What it costs

Starts at ₹1,50,000 (excl. GST)

A PWA is built as a web app, so our web app anchor applies. Heavy offline sync and many device features raise the scope, and the fixed quote follows a discovery call.

  • Amount of offline functionality
  • Sync and conflict rules
  • Number of roles and screens
  • Push notification setup
  • Backend and integrations

All prices exclude 18% GST. See also website costs and app costs.

Questions we get asked

Will a PWA work on iPhones?

Yes, with limits. Users add it to the home screen from Safari, and recent iOS versions support web push for installed apps. Some features and background behaviour remain narrower than on Android, so we test on real iPhones before promising anything.

Can a PWA work fully offline?

It can for the parts we design to. Cached screens and queued actions let users keep working without a network, and data syncs later. Features that need live data, such as payments or stock checks, still require a connection.

Is a PWA cheaper than a mobile app?

Usually, because it is a web app with one codebase and no store process. A mobile app starts at ₹2,00,000, and a web app at ₹1,50,000. The saving shrinks if you need many native features.

Can I list a PWA on the Google Play Store?

Yes, an Android PWA can be wrapped as a Trusted Web Activity and published, subject to Play Store policies and review. That gives store presence without a rewrite. For the Apple App Store, a PWA needs a different, native-style wrapper.

Does a PWA need to be installed to work?

No. It opens as a normal website in a browser first. Installing adds the home screen icon, full-screen mode and better offline support, and users choose when to do it. Users decide when to install, and the app keeps working as a normal site until then.

What about security and updates?

PWAs must run over HTTPS, and updates go out when you deploy, so everyone gets fixes together. We handle login tokens carefully and clear cached data on logout. Sensitive data caching is limited to what you approve.
