Hire Node.js developers for APIs and realtime backends
Backend developers who build clean APIs, queues and realtime features in Node.js. Monthly dedicated engagement or a fixed scope, from our Pune studio.
Teams that hire Node.js developers usually need an API for a mobile app, a realtime feature such as chat or live tracking, or glue between systems. NioDelta is a Pune studio founded in 2017. We build Node.js backends for web and mobile products, and offer them as a monthly developer or a fixed-scope project.
Node.js is good at handling many connections at once and at sharing JavaScript knowledge with the front end. It is not the answer to every backend. We will say plainly if your product is better served by Laravel or Django, for example when it is mostly forms, reports and admin screens.
What goes wrong with Node.js hires
No structure beyond one file
Express lets you start fast and grow messy. Without layers for routes, services and data access, every change risks breaking something else. Ask how the candidate organises a project of fifty endpoints.
Unhandled errors take the server down
One missed promise rejection can crash a process. A production API needs error handling, restarts, logging and alerts, not just working endpoints.
Weak security on the API
Missing rate limits, loose token checks and unvalidated input are common. An API behind a mobile app is public, so assume it will be probed.
Realtime features without a plan for scale
A chat that works for ten users can fail at a thousand. Connection handling, message storage and reconnection on bad mobile networks need design before launch.
Where Node.js developers from NioDelta help
REST API for mobile apps
Versioned endpoints, token authentication, pagination and push notification triggers for a Flutter or React Native app.
Realtime features
Live order tracking, chat, notifications and dashboards using WebSockets, with reconnection handled for weak connections.
Third-party integrations
Razorpay, SMS and WhatsApp providers, shipping and accounting APIs, with webhooks verified and retried safely.
Background jobs and scheduling
Queues for emails, report generation and imports, so the user is not left waiting on a slow request.
Backend with NestJS
A typed, modular structure for larger teams and longer-lived products where conventions matter.
Performance and cleanup
Profile slow endpoints, add caching and database indexes, and add tests around fragile code.
How a Node.js engagement runs
Discover
We map the clients that will call your API, expected users and any realtime needs. We confirm whether Node.js is the right fit.
Define
We list endpoints, data models and integrations in a written scope. You receive a fixed quote or a monthly backlog.
Design
API contracts are written first, so front-end and mobile developers can work in parallel against agreed shapes.
Build
Weekly releases to a staging server, with logging, validation and automated tests on payments and authentication.
Ship & extend
Production deployment with process management and monitoring, followed by one month of post-launch support.
What it costs
Backend scope varies widely, so we price after reading the requirements. As a reference, a web app or custom software project starts at ₹1,50,000 and a mobile app at ₹2,00,000, both excl. GST with the launch discount applied.
- Number of endpoints and integrations
- Realtime and concurrency needs
- Database design and migrations
- Security and load testing
- Hosting and monitoring setup
All prices exclude 18% GST. See also website costs and app costs.

Questions we get asked
Can a Node.js developer work with my Flutter or React Native app?
Yes. Node.js APIs are a common backend for cross-platform apps. We write the API contract first, so mobile developers can build against it in parallel, and we have a mobile team if you want both sides from one studio.
Express or NestJS: which do you use?
Express for small, focused APIs, NestJS for larger products with several developers or long-term maintenance. NestJS adds structure and TypeScript conventions. We recommend one after discovery based on size and team plans, not habit. Both can be changed later if needs shift.
How do you keep an API secure?
We validate every input, check tokens on each route, set rate limits, store secrets outside code and log suspicious activity. Payment webhooks are verified by signature. A security checklist is part of the handover. Penetration-style checks are quoted separately if you need them.
Can you take over an existing Node.js backend?
Yes. We review the code, dependency versions, error handling and deployment first, then give you a prioritised list. Outdated packages and missing tests are common, and we fix the riskiest items before adding features. Nothing is rewritten without your approval.
Who controls the servers and repository?
You do. Repositories, cloud accounts and credentials are in your name, and we work with access you grant. At handover we document environment variables and deployment steps so another team can run it. No keys stay with us once we finish.
Is a monthly developer or a fixed quote better?
If you can describe the finished API today, a fixed quote gives cost certainty. If features will change as users give feedback, a monthly developer works better. We help you pick during the discovery call.
