Agriculture Ecommerce Website Development for Produce, Seeds and Inputs

An online store for farm produce, packaged foods, seeds or inputs, with variable weights, delivery limits and tax handled properly.

This page covers ecommerce website development for agriculture sellers: farm-direct produce, dry fruits and spices, packaged foods, plants, seeds, tools and farm inputs. It is for businesses that want to sell to households, retailers or other farms online.

Selling agri products online is different from selling shoes. Weights vary, shelf life is short, some items cannot travel far, and some inputs have rules on who can sell them. A generic store template hides these problems until the first complaint arrives.

What agri ecommerce stores have to get right

01

Variable weight and pack sizes

A customer orders 1 kg, you pack 1.05 kg, and the price has to make sense. The store needs weight-based pricing, pack variants and clear rounding rules.

02

Delivery that matches shelf life

Fresh produce may only ship to certain pin codes or on certain days. The store should block orders it cannot deliver rather than accept and cancel them.

03

GST and invoicing

Many fresh unprocessed items are treated differently from packaged or processed ones, and rates vary by product. Your accountant should confirm rates; we make the store carry them per product and print compliant invoices.

04

Payments and COD in India

UPI and cards through Razorpay or similar are expected. Cash on delivery is common for first orders, but needs fees and pin code limits to avoid returns on perishable goods.

What we build for agri ecommerce

01

Farm-direct store

Products by season, with harvest date, origin farm or village and storage tips. A pre-order option lets customers book upcoming harvests.

02

Subscription boxes

Weekly or fortnightly vegetable, fruit or staple boxes with pause and skip options, and payment by UPI mandate or manual renewal.

03

Bulk and retailer ordering

A separate price list and minimum quantities for shops, hotels and canteens, with GST invoice and credit terms you set.

04

Seeds and inputs catalogue

Product pages with usage details you provide, and store settings to restrict sale where regulations require it. You must confirm what you are permitted to sell and where.

When this is the wrong choice. If you sell only in bulk to a handful of known buyers, a catalogue site with enquiry forms is cheaper than a full store. Add checkout only when buyers actually want to order and pay online. Likewise, if you cannot reliably pack and dispatch within a day or two, fix fulfilment before taking online orders.

What it costs

Starts at ₹75,000 (excl. GST) for an ecommerce store

Subscriptions, many pack variants, multiple warehouses or marketplace sync add effort. Quoted after a discovery call with a fixed written estimate.

Questions we get asked

Can the store sell by weight with changing prices?

Yes. We set up weight-based and pack-based pricing, with optional daily price updates from an admin screen or sheet. Customers see the price per unit and per pack before paying, which reduces disputes when actual weight differs slightly.

Can I limit delivery to certain pin codes?

Yes. The store checks the pin code at the product or cart stage and shows whether delivery is possible and by when. For fresh produce we recommend tight zones and fixed delivery days, which keeps spoilage and refunds low.

How is GST handled for fresh and processed products?

Each product carries its own GST rate and HSN code that your accountant confirms, and invoices print accordingly. We do not decide tax treatment. We make it easy to change a rate without editing every order.

Is cash on delivery a good idea for perishables?

Use it carefully. COD raises refusal and return rates, which hurts when goods spoil. Many sellers allow COD only in nearby pin codes, add a small fee, or ask for UPI advance on large orders. We can configure any of these.
