Religious Organisation Mobile App Development for Android and iOS
A devotee app for a large temple, church, mosque or trust with timing alerts, event notices, giving and live links, built once for Android and iOS.
This page covers mobile apps for religious organisations that have a regular, large community: pilgrimage temples, big churches, multi-branch congregations and trusts with frequent events. It describes what an app can do that a website cannot, and when it is not worth building. It is written for trustees deciding whether the cost is justified.
A website answers a question when someone searches. An app reaches people who have already chosen you. Timing reminders, festival notices and a quick path to give are the reasons a devotee keeps it installed. We build in Flutter or React Native, so one codebase serves Android and iPhone users. We will tell you honestly if your community is too small for one.
What a devotee app has to do well
Reminders that respect the day
Devotees want an alert before aarti, a service or a festival, not a stream of promotions. Opt-in topics and quiet hours keep the app welcome.
Works for older users
Many devotees are elderly and use phones with large fonts and little patience for menus. Big buttons, few screens and local-language text are essential.
Low data and low storage
Budget phones fill up fast. A small app that opens quickly and keeps images light will stay installed longer than a rich, heavy one.
Trust around giving
Donors should know the fund, the receipt and who runs the app before paying. The checkout needs clear purpose labels and a contact route for questions.
What we build into the app
Timings, calendar and alerts
Daily schedule, yearly calendar and opt-in push notifications by event type. Your office edits one source that feeds both the app and the website.
In-app giving and receipts
UPI and card payments with fund choices and receipts saved in a history screen. Tax and registration wording is supplied and approved by your trust.
Live stream and audio library
A card for live ceremonies and an archive of discourses, bhajans, sermons or recitations. Audio keeps playing with the screen off.
Pilgrim help and navigation
Directions, queue and parking information, lost-and-found contact and emergency numbers. This is useful on crowded festival days when phone data is slow.
What it costs
A mobile app MVP typically takes 10 to 12 weeks. Cost depends on languages, payment and receipt rules, live and audio features, and the size of the admin panel your office needs.
Questions we get asked
Will the app work without internet at a crowded festival?
Basic information such as timings, the festival schedule, maps and emergency numbers can be stored on the phone and open without a signal. Payments, live video and fresh notices need internet. We test on weak networks, since temple crowds often overload local towers.
Can the Play Store approve a religious app with donations?
Many such apps are published, but Play Store review has its own rules on payments, user data and content. We prepare the privacy declarations and listing carefully. Approval is decided by Google, so we cannot guarantee the result or the review time.
Who manages the notifications and content?
Your office does, from a simple admin panel. Staff can post a notice, schedule an alert and update timings without us. We train two or three people at handover. Restricting who can send alerts avoids mistakes on sensitive days.
Can the app support several languages?
Yes. Typical sets are English with Marathi, Hindi or another regional language, with proper fonts and a language switch. Your trust or a native speaker reviews all religious and devotional text. We do not translate sacred material ourselves.
