Responsive Web Design Built for Indian Phones

Websites that read cleanly and load fast on a 6-inch mid-range Android phone first, then scale up to tablets and desktops.

Responsive web design means one site that adapts to any screen. In India that mostly means a phone. A large share of visitors arrive on mid-range Android devices, often on a patchy connection, so a layout that looks fine on a designer's monitor can be painful in a real pocket.

We are a software studio in Pune, working since 2017. We design and build mobile-first: the narrowest screen is drawn first, then the layout grows. We also fix existing sites that break on small screens, load slowly or hide the contact button where thumbs cannot reach it. The result is a site that feels light even on an older handset.

What breaks on real phones

01

Desktop layout squeezed down

Columns stack in odd order, tables overflow sideways and the main button lands below three screens of images.

02

Heavy pages on slow data

A 4 MB hero image is invisible on fast office wifi and painful on a crowded 4G tower. Visitors leave before the page appears.

03

Tiny tap targets

Links packed close together cause mis-taps. Forms with small fields and wrong keyboards frustrate people ready to enquire.

04

Layout shifts and jumpy loading

Late-loading fonts and banners push text around as it loads, so users tap the wrong thing or lose their place.

Our responsive web design services

01

Mobile-first layouts

We design the phone view first, with a clear reading order and a reachable primary action, then extend to tablet and desktop.

02

Breakpoints based on content

Instead of chasing device names, we set breakpoints where your content actually breaks, which keeps the CSS smaller and more stable.

03

Performance budget

Targets for page weight and load time are set at the start. Images are resized and served in modern formats, and unused scripts are dropped.

04

Forms and inputs for touch

Correct keyboard types for phone and email, large tap targets, clear errors and autofill support, so enquiries are easy to complete.

05

Real-device testing

We test on actual mid-range Android phones, an iPhone, and a throttled connection, not only on browser emulators.

06

Retrofit for existing sites

We audit a site that is not responsive, list the fixes by impact and either patch the theme or rebuild the worst templates.

When this is the wrong choice. If your site is old, built on a fixed-width layout, and needs new content and design as well, patching it for mobile is wasted money. A redesign is the better choice. Also, a native mobile app is a different thing, so see our app development pages for that.

How we make a site responsive

01

Discover

We check your analytics for device mix and test the current site on real phones. We list what breaks and which pages matter most.

02

Define

You get a short plan covering target devices, page weight limits and the pages to fix or rebuild first, with a fixed quote.

03

Design

Mobile layouts are drawn first in Figma with real content, then tablet and desktop views, including long Hindi or Marathi words where needed.

04

Build

Fluid layouts, scaled images and light scripts are coded and checked at many widths, plus on several actual devices.

05

Ship & extend

We run speed and layout checks after launch, fix what live traffic shows and give one month of support.

All prices exclude 18% GST. See also website costs and app costs.

Questions we get asked

What is responsive web design?

It is building one website that adjusts its layout to the screen it is shown on, so text, images and buttons stay readable on phones, tablets and desktops without a separate mobile site. It is a design approach, not a plugin, so it has to be planned from the first sketch.

Why test on mid-range Android phones?

Many Indian visitors use such devices with limited memory and variable data speed. If a site feels smooth there, it works almost everywhere. If it only works on a flagship phone, it fails many real customers.

Can you make my existing website mobile-friendly?

Often yes. We audit it first and list fixes. If the old theme is deeply fixed-width, we will tell you honestly that rebuilding the key templates costs less than endless patches. We list the exact templates that fail, so you can see what the repair will involve.

Does responsive design help with Google rankings?

Google uses the mobile version of a page for indexing, so a poor phone experience can hurt visibility. We build clean, fast pages, though we do not sell SEO as a separate service. Pages that load quickly and respond fast to touch also tend to keep visitors longer.

How much does responsive web design cost?

For a new business website it starts at ₹45,000 excluding GST, with responsive layout included. Repairs on an existing site are quoted after a discovery call and an audit of the current code. We keep screens and tools fixed during testing, so your cost stays tied to the scope.

Do you design differently for Hindi or Marathi sites?

Yes. Devanagari text needs more line height and careful font choice, and longer words can break narrow layouts. We test those cases on small screens before approving the design. Fonts that cover Devanagari properly are chosen early, because they change the whole layout.
