Manufacturing Mobile App Development for Plants and Sales Teams
Android-first apps for salesmen visiting dealers, supervisors recording production and inspectors logging quality checks.
This page covers mobile apps for manufacturers. The users are not retail shoppers. They are field salesmen, dealers placing repeat orders, shop-floor supervisors, stores staff and quality inspectors. Most of them use mid-range Android phones, often in places with weak signal.
A mobile app earns its place when the work happens away from a desk: a salesman at a dealer's counter, an inspector at a machine, a supervisor at shift end. If staff still carry paper registers and re-type them at night, an app removes that double entry. We build around that daily routine.
What manufacturers need from a mobile app
Offline-first data capture
Plants, godowns and rural dealer visits have patchy networks. The app must save entries on the phone and sync later without losing or duplicating records.
Fast order taking for field sales
A salesman should see the dealer's price list, last orders and pending dues, then place an order in a minute. Slow screens push staff back to phone calls and notebooks.
Simple screens for shop-floor users
Operators may have limited smartphone comfort and gloves or dirty hands. Large buttons, few fields, local-language labels and barcode or QR scanning cut mistakes.
Photos and checklists for quality and dispatch
Inspectors need to attach photos, record readings and mark pass or fail. Dispatch teams need proof of loading. These records help settle disputes later.
What we build for manufacturing teams
Field sales and dealer visit app
Dealer list, visit check-in, order entry with tier pricing, collection notes and outstanding view. Orders sync to your ERP or order sheet when the phone is online.
Dealer ordering app
Dealers reorder parts, view order status and download invoices. Push notifications tell them when an order is dispatched, saving calls to your office.
Production and downtime logger
Supervisors log output, rejects and machine stops by shift, with reasons chosen from a short list. The plant head sees a summary the same day.
Quality inspection and dispatch checklist
Configurable checklists with photo capture, readings and sign-off. Each batch gets a record that can be pulled up when a customer raises a complaint.
What it costs
A mobile app MVP typically takes 10 to 12 weeks. Cost depends on offline needs, integrations with your ERP and the number of user roles.
Questions we get asked
Do staff need the Play Store, or can we distribute internally?
Both are possible. A private Play Store listing or an APK shared with your team works for internal apps. Play Store distribution gives easier updates. We advise based on your team size and how often you expect to change the app.
Can the app scan barcodes and QR codes?
Yes, using the phone camera. This works for part labels, batch tags and dispatch checks. For dusty or very small codes, a low-cost Bluetooth scanner may be more reliable. We test with your actual labels.
How do we avoid data loss when there is no network?
Entries are stored on the phone first and uploaded when a connection returns, with checks to prevent duplicates. We test this by deliberately switching networks off during use. Conflicts, if any, are shown for review.
Will workers need training in English?
The app can use Hindi or Marathi labels, with icons for common actions. We keep text short and review wording with your supervisors. A short walkthrough on the floor usually does more than a manual.
