.NET development for Indian businesses that run on Windows
New ASP.NET Core apps, careful upgrades of old .NET Framework software, and integrations with the Windows tools your office already uses. Written for owners and IT heads who cannot afford a rewrite that stops billing.
Many Indian companies have a .NET application that someone built ten or fifteen years ago. It runs the billing, the stock, or the dispatch desk. It works, so nobody touches it, until the server is end of life or the one person who understands it leaves. That is usually when a .NET development partner is called.
We handle both sides of that story. If you need a new system, we build it on ASP.NET Core with SQL Server or PostgreSQL. If you have an old one, we first read it, document what it really does, and then decide with you whether to upgrade in place, wrap it with an API, or replace it in stages.
Problems we are usually called in for
A legacy app nobody dares change
The code is on .NET Framework 4.x or older, there are no tests, and every fix risks breaking billing. You need someone to map the behaviour before touching it. That mapping is the first deliverable, not an afterthought.
Windows Server and licence cost
Old IIS servers, SQL Server licences and a rented machine in a data centre add up every year. Moving to ASP.NET Core lets the app run on Linux containers or a cheaper cloud tier, if your dependencies allow it.
Tally, biometric and desktop tools that must keep working
The accounts team lives in Tally and the factory gate uses a fingerprint machine with a vendor SDK. A new system has to talk to these, not replace them overnight. We plan these bridges early because they decide the schedule.
No mobile or web access to desktop data
Owners want to see sales on a phone, but the data sits inside a WinForms program on one PC. We can add a secure API and a web or mobile front end without throwing the desktop tool away.
The .NET development work we take on
New ASP.NET Core web apps and APIs
Back offices, customer portals and REST APIs built with ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core and a clear layered structure. Authentication, role permissions and audit logs are part of the base, not extras.
Framework to .NET migration
We move .NET Framework 4.x web apps to current .NET in steps. Where a library has no modern version, we say so early and propose a replacement or an isolated side service.
Code audit before any decision
A short paid review of your existing code, database and server setup. You get a written note on risk, what can be reused, and two or three options with rough effort bands.
Windows and desktop integration
Connectors for Tally, biometric devices, label printers, weighing scales and Excel-based workflows. Where a vendor only provides a Windows SDK, we run a small Windows service next to the main app.
Database and reporting work
SQL Server schema clean-up, stored procedure reviews, slow query fixes and GST-ready reports. We also move data to PostgreSQL when licence cost is the issue and the app allows it.
Hosting, backups and handover
Deployment on Azure, AWS or an Indian cloud, with scheduled backups and a restore test. You get the source code, a deployment note and a one-month support window after launch.
How a .NET project runs with us
Discover
We read the existing code or the paper process, list every report and integration, and meet the people who use it daily. For legacy apps we also take a copy of the database and run it locally.
Define
You get a written scope with the migration or build order, the parts that will be rewritten, and the parts that will be wrapped. The quote is fixed against that scope.
Design
Data model, API contract and screens are agreed before coding. For migrations we draw the target structure beside the current one so that differences are visible.
Build
Work ships in short cycles to a staging site. Old and new systems run side by side where possible, so staff can compare totals before switching.
Ship & extend
Cut-over is planned for a quiet day, with a rollback copy kept. One month of support follows, and later work can go on a care plan or fresh scope.
What it costs
Migrations and Windows integrations are quoted after a discovery call, because the size of the existing code decides the effort. A paid code audit comes first for anything older than ten years.
- Size and age of the existing codebase
- Number of integrations (Tally, devices, payment)
- Reports and data migration volume
- Hosting and licence choices
- Need for mobile or customer-facing screens
All prices exclude 18% GST. See also website costs and app costs.
Questions we get asked
Can you upgrade our old .NET Framework application without a full rewrite?
Often yes. We audit the code first, then upgrade project by project, replace unsupported libraries and keep the database stable. If a module is too tangled, we isolate it behind an API and rewrite only that part. You get the audit findings in writing before any commitment.
Do you build only on Microsoft tools?
No. .NET apps usually pair with SQL Server, but PostgreSQL, Redis and Linux hosting work well too. We choose by your licence budget and your team's skills, and we tell you when another stack, such as Laravel or Node.js, would suit the job better.
Will the new software still talk to Tally?
Usually yes, through Tally's XML or ODBC interfaces, or by exporting vouchers in an agreed format. We test with a copy of your company data first. Exact limits depend on your Tally version and how your accounts team posts entries, so we confirm this in discovery.
Can you host the app for us?
We deploy to Azure, AWS or an Indian cloud account that you own, so you keep control. Backups and a restore test are part of go-live. Ongoing monitoring and updates can be covered by a monthly care plan if you do not have an IT person.
How long does a migration take?
It depends on code size and test coverage, so we do not quote a number before the audit. Small apps with a few screens can move quickly. Large systems with many reports are staged over several releases, so the business keeps running throughout.
Who owns the source code?
You do. On final payment you receive the full source, database scripts and deployment notes in your own repository. We do not hold the code hostage or keep proprietary components that lock you to us.
Ready to scope it?
Tell us what you want to build. You get a fixed written quote after a free discovery call.
