Ecommerce Website Development for Restaurants and Food Brands

An online store where customers order food, meal boxes or packaged products directly from you, with UPI, COD and pincode-based delivery rules.

This page covers ecommerce website development for food businesses: a store where customers choose items, pay and receive delivery or pickup from you. It fits cloud kitchens, bakeries, sweet shops, tiffin services and packaged food brands such as pickles, masalas and snacks. Our focus is the store rules that protect your kitchen, such as order limits, lead times and delivery areas.

Food is a different kind of ecommerce. Stock is perishable, prices can change daily, orders have a delivery window, and a late dispatch ruins the product. A generic fashion-style store template does not handle that, so the build starts from your kitchen schedule, your delivery area and what you can promise a customer. Honest limits on what you can deliver should be written into checkout, not handled by apology.

What food ecommerce needs that normal stores do not

01

Delivery slots and cut-off times

A bakery needs next-day orders locked by 8 pm. A tiffin service needs weekly plans with pause days. The store must enforce these rules at checkout, not leave staff to sort it out on calls.

02

Pincode and radius delivery

Fresh food only travels so far. Checkout should accept or refuse an address by pincode or distance, and set the delivery charge to match.

03

Custom items and notes

Cakes need message text and weight options, meals need spice level and no-onion notes. These fields should print clearly on the kitchen order slip.

04

COD and UPI together

Many food orders in smaller cities still go on cash on delivery, while repeat buyers prefer UPI. Offer both, and cap COD for new customers if fake orders are a risk.

What we build for food stores

01

Catalogue with daily availability

Items by category with stock per day, seasonal listing and festival menus such as Diwali sweets boxes. Sold-out items hide automatically.

02

Checkout built for local delivery

Razorpay or similar gateway for UPI and cards, COD rules, coupon codes, GST invoice with the correct breakup and a clean confirmation message on WhatsApp or email.

03

Subscription and meal plans

Weekly or monthly plans with skip days and renewal reminders, for tiffin services and healthy meal brands.

04

Packaged food shipping

For non-perishable products, courier integration, weight-based shipping and FSSAI licence number display in the footer and invoice, as your own compliance requires.

When this is the wrong choice. If you only take a few orders a day through WhatsApp and phone calls, a full online store adds admin work you may not need yet. Start with a website and a WhatsApp button, then add the store once repeat orders justify it.

What it costs

Ecommerce store starts at ₹75,000 (excl. GST)

Delivery slot logic, subscriptions and the number of payment options affect the quote. A fixed written price follows a free discovery call. Packaged food stores that need courier shipping and weight-based rates are also priced after we see your product range.

Questions we get asked

Shopify or a custom store for a cloud kitchen?

Shopify suits packaged foods and simple catalogues with courier shipping. Slot-based delivery, kitchen cut-offs and tiffin subscriptions often need custom logic that costs more to bend into Shopify. We compare both options with your order flow during discovery.

Do I need FSSAI details on my food website?

FSSAI rules require licence or registration details on food business communication and invoices, but confirm exact requirements with your food safety adviser or licensing authority. We can display your number wherever you tell us to, such as the footer and invoice.

Can customers choose a delivery time slot?

Yes. We set slots by day, with capacity limits per slot and a cut-off time before each. When a slot fills, it closes at checkout. This protects kitchen workload and avoids promising deliveries you cannot make.

How do I handle fake COD orders?

Use phone number verification by OTP, limit COD to a delivery area and a maximum order value, and ask for UPI advance on large orders. These checks are built into checkout rules and can be changed by you as you learn your pattern.
