Restaurant ordering system development for direct orders

Your own online ordering, QR table menus and kitchen screen that sync with your billing counter, so more orders come direct instead of through commission-heavy aggregators.

For many restaurants, a big share of orders arrives through delivery aggregators that take a cut of every bill. A direct ordering system will not replace those apps, but it gives your regulars a cheaper way to order, and you keep their phone number. The system must be simple enough for a busy kitchen to run without a computer person.

We built the Foodysh food delivery platform for Nashik, with customer, restaurant and rider apps and an admin panel, so we know what the order flow looks like from each side. We apply that to single outlets, small chains and cloud kitchens that want their own ordering system. Each outlet gets only the screens its staff need.

What restaurant owners tell us is broken

01

Commission eats the margin

After aggregator fees, discounts and packaging, little is left on some orders. Direct ordering with UPI at your own link or QR code lets repeat customers skip that commission.

02

Orders reach the kitchen late or wrong

Orders written from phone calls or copied from WhatsApp go wrong at rush hour. A kitchen display or printed KOT that receives each order automatically cuts mistakes.

03

The POS does not talk to the website

Items sold out at the counter still show on the app. We sync menu availability and prices with your billing software where it has an API, or give you a simple stock toggle where it does not.

04

Delivery you cannot track

Your own riders or a third-party fleet need clear assignment, status and cash handling for COD. Without it, complaints take the owner's whole evening.

Restaurant ordering system development services

01

Online ordering website and app

A branded ordering site and optional app with menu, modifiers, combos, coupons and UPI payment. Customers can order for delivery or pickup, and repeat orders take two taps.

02

QR table ordering

Guests scan a code at the table, order and pay from their phone, with no app install. Orders go to the kitchen and the bill merges with the table at the counter.

03

Kitchen display and printing

New orders appear on a tablet or print on a thermal printer, with preparing, ready and dispatched states. Rush-hour views group orders by time and channel.

04

POS and billing sync

Menu, prices, stock and order push for POS systems that offer an API. Tax rates and GST invoice details follow your billing setup. We confirm API availability before quoting this.

05

Delivery and rider app

Zone and distance based charges, rider assignment, live status and COD cash reconciliation. You can use your own riders or connect a third-party delivery service.

06

Admin, offers and customer data

Menu editing, timings, offers, reports by item and hour, and a customer list for WhatsApp offers sent with consent. Multiple outlets are managed from one login.

When this is the wrong choice. If you have one counter, no delivery and mostly walk-in trade, a QR menu page and a UPI QR on the table are enough. A full ordering system pays back only when you take enough direct or delivery orders, or run more than one outlet. Also, if your POS vendor provides ordering add-ons, compare them before building.

How a restaurant ordering project runs

01

Discover

We study your menu structure, peak hours, current order channels and POS. A visit or video walk-through of your kitchen flow helps us design screens people can use under pressure.

02

Define

We freeze channels (website, app, QR, phone), payment methods, delivery rules and POS sync points. The quote is fixed on that written scope.

03

Design

The menu is designed around photos, modifiers and fast reordering. The kitchen screen is designed for large type and glanceable status.

04

Build

We build ordering, kitchen and admin first, then delivery and sync. A pilot week with real orders in one outlet comes before wider launch.

05

Ship & extend

We set up payment accounts, printers and staff training, and support you for a month. Later additions like loyalty or a second outlet are scoped separately.

What it costs

Starts at ₹75,000 (excl. GST) for an ordering website; apps quoted after a call

The entry anchor is our ecommerce store price, ₹75,000, which suits an ordering site with online payment. Delivery apps, rider tracking and POS sync move it into a custom quote.

  • Website only, or customer and rider apps too
  • POS integration availability
  • Number of outlets and menus
  • Delivery zones and rider management
  • Printer and kitchen display setup

All prices exclude 18% GST. See also website costs and app costs.

Questions we get asked

Will this replace Swiggy or Zomato for my restaurant?

No, and it is not meant to. It gives your repeat customers a direct route with no commission, while aggregators continue to bring new customers. Many owners nudge regulars to their own link using a QR on packaging and bills, over time.

Can QR ordering work without my customers installing an app?

Yes. The QR opens a web menu in the phone browser. Guests order and pay by UPI, and the order reaches the kitchen screen or printer. They can also call the waiter for water or the bill if you enable it.

Does it connect with my billing software?

If your POS has an open API, yes: we can sync menu, prices, stock and orders. Some POS vendors restrict access or charge for it. We ask for the vendor name in discovery and confirm what is possible before fixing the quote.

How do you handle cash on delivery?

Riders mark orders as paid in cash and the app tracks what each rider owes at day end. The admin sees a reconciliation view. You can also limit COD by order value or area to reduce no-delivery risk.

What are the running costs after launch?

Hosting, payment gateway fees, map and messaging charges, and thermal paper. Gateway fees are a percentage of each online payment. We list expected monthly costs in the proposal. A care plan at ₹3,750 a month can cover monitoring and updates.

Can I manage several outlets?

Yes. Each outlet has its own menu, hours and kitchen screen, while owners see combined reports and can copy menus between locations. Delivery zones are set per outlet. Staff accounts are limited to their own outlet.
