Restaurant Web App Development for Kitchens and Outlets
Browser-based tools for taking orders, running the kitchen and managing outlets, with no app install on counter tablets or the owner's laptop.
This page covers restaurant web app development: software that runs in a browser and handles the working side of a food business. Think order dashboards, kitchen display screens, menu and stock management, and owner reports. It is aimed at restaurants, cloud kitchens and delivery brands that have outgrown paper chits and WhatsApp groups. We keep the screens simple enough for a new cashier to learn in one shift.
A web app suits food businesses because the devices are already there: a cheap Android tablet at the counter, a monitor in the kitchen, a manager's laptop. Nothing needs the Play Store, and an update reaches every outlet at once. The trade-off is that browsers on weak Wi-Fi need careful handling, which is where most of the design effort goes.
What restaurant operations need from a web app
Orders from many sources in one place
Calls, WhatsApp, your own site and aggregators all create orders. Staff need a single queue with source tags, so nothing is missed or cooked twice.
A kitchen screen that survives a rush
Tickets must show items, modifiers and timers, and move cleanly between preparing and ready. A dropped Wi-Fi connection should not lose an order that is already on screen.
Item-level stock control
Marking a dish unavailable when paneer or a particular base runs out prevents refunds later. Even simple ingredient-level counts help owners see wastage.
Roles and outlet separation
Cashier, kitchen, manager and owner should each see only what they need. Multi-outlet owners need a combined view without staff at one outlet seeing another's takings.
What we build for restaurant teams
Order management dashboard
A live queue with accept, reject, assign and status updates, plus printable KOT and bill formats. GST breakup and invoice numbering follow the structure your accountant gives us.
Kitchen display view
A full-screen ticket board for a kitchen monitor, with colour timers and station filters. It reconnects itself after a network drop and keeps unsent actions queued.
Menu and inventory console
Bulk price edits, timed menus such as breakfast and dinner, outlet-wise availability and low-stock alerts to the manager's phone or email.
Owner reports
Daily sales by outlet, item and payment mode, with UPI and cash split and an export your accountant can open in Excel.
What it costs
Order sources, number of outlets, printer and payment integrations and reporting depth decide the final figure. We give a fixed written quote after a discovery call.
Questions we get asked
Will a restaurant web app work if the internet drops?
Partly. We design the kitchen and counter screens to hold current tickets and queue actions during a short outage, then sync when the connection returns. Full offline billing is a bigger build, so tell us how unstable your outlet connection is during discovery.
Can it connect to aggregator orders?
Only where the platform offers an integration route to your account, and that access is controlled by the platform, not by us. We check what is available for your listing during discovery and design the order queue so those sources can be added later.
Can it print KOT and bills on a thermal printer?
Yes, in most setups. Browser printing to a network or USB thermal printer works with the right configuration, and we test with your exact printer model before launch. Some Bluetooth printers need a small helper app, which we would flag early.
Is a web app better than a ready-made POS for a restaurant?
A ready-made POS is quicker if your flow is standard. A custom web app makes sense when you run several order sources, a cloud kitchen with multiple brands, or a process off-the-shelf tools cannot model. Compare monthly POS fees with a one-time build before deciding.
